Purpose
The Recruiter is responsible executing recruitment strategies to attract, hire, and retain skilled professionals, tradespeople, and operational staff within a high-volume environment. This role focuses on building a robust talent pipeline to meet fluctuating workforce demands driven by projects, production targets, and business growth.
Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end recruitment for a high volume of roles, including skilled trades, technical specialists, engineers, operators, and administrative staff

Source candidates through multiple channels (job boards, social media, trade schools, job fairs, community programs etc).

Implement workforce attraction initiatives to support operational needs

Ensure all recruitment activities comply with employment laws, collective agreements, and company policies.

Maintain accurate recruitment metrics, applicant tracking, and reporting through HRIS or ATS systems.

Manage background checks, pre-employment medicals, and onboarding logistics for large cohorts of new hires.

Promote the company as an employer of choice in heavy industry sectors through branding campaigns, partnerships, and community engagement.

Deliver a consistent and positive candidate experience at every stage of the recruitment process.

Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand operational needs and ensure timely talent delivery.
- Liaise with external recruitment agencies, training institutions, and labor hire providers to ensure workforce availability.
Training and Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

3–5+ years of recruitment experience, preferably within heavy industry, manufacturing, or high-volume environments.

Proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment for trade, technical, and administrative roles

Proficiency in ATS/HRIS systems and sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed etc)

Experience in unionized environments

Knowledge of safety and compliance requirements for industrial roles.
- Familiarity with apprenticeship or trainee program management.
