Purpose

Mine Engineers in Training supports the planning, design, and safe operation of mines. Responsibilities include optimizing mining production, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and cost management. Tasks involve minor project management, data analysis, and effective equipment utilization.

Responsibilities
Mine Production/Cost Optimization

  • Analyze data and prepare reports on mine production and efficiency
  • Design and implement strategies to improve mine production processes
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient and safe production
  • Monitor and control mine operations to meet production targets and budgets
  • Identify and champion opportunities to optimize mine performance (overbreak, advance rates, ventilation, pumping)

Production and Cost reporting

  • Manage the Centric data base including the daily KPI reporting.
  • Manage the monthly site production bonus process.
  • Leads the site cost review process including the cost reclass work and cost variance explanation.
  • Leads the monthly and quarterly production review process including the support required for the site monthly report and scorecard presentation.
  • Supports the site forecast and budgeting process.

Engineering Support to Operations

  • Review and support engineering work on projects identified by the engineering and operating groups. Examples are infrastructure, material handling, equipment replacement and selection and engineered safety on new installations/equipment.
  • Identify and implement engineering projects to enhance safety and operational effectiveness as part of a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Manage consultants and contractors on minor engineering projects.


Training and Education

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of mine operation and engineering experience.
  • Basic experience in a leadership role.
  • Be technically competent and have a good understanding of key business drivers for underground mining.
  • Able to effectively create strategic relationships with engineering, operations and management personnel.
  • Have strong communication and people skills.
  • Able to effectively make presentations on U/G projects.
  • Be focused, clear, and decisive.
  • Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the engineering, project, geology and operation groups.
  • Ability to effectively establish priorities to meet Hoyle’s strategic goals.


Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

  • Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
  • Annual total compensation of CAD$104,140 to CAD$128,644 (including annual bonus eligibility).
