Purpose

Providing direction and support to the operations group to help achieve and surpass the mine’s safety and production targets and to add value to the operation. 
Plans sequence of mining activities, provides mine schedule and track development and progress to ensure monthly forecast is achieved.  
Identifies and mitigates potential and actual problems on a continuous basis and ensures alternatives are available to offset impact.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule mining activities for each heading to ensure stopes are ready for production on time. 
  • Review plans and designs to ensure they are safe, cost effective and provide for efficient ore extraction with available resources. 
  • Optimize production and minimize dilution through sequencing of all critical tasks. 
  • Provide guidance to operating departments to maximize production, plan their activities and accurately measure key mining parameters. 
  • Assist planners with economic analyses for designated ore zones to optimize margins and complete stope reconciliations to verify quality and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitoring performance to ensure the department’s goals and objectives are achieved. 
  • Participate in short term planning at the departmental level, providing input on areas to increase value and optimize use of resources. 
  • Train and mentor E.I.T.’s and new planners in all facets of the planning duties. 


Training and Education

  • Engineering degree, Technician or Technologist Diploma in Mining Engineering (or equivalent) 
  • Minimum 3 years of mine operation and engineering experience.   
  • Leadership role would be an asset, not requirement. 
  • Be technically competent and have a good understanding of U/G narrow vein mining.   
  • Have strong communication and people skills.   
  • Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the operations group. 
  • Ability to effectively establish priorities and communicate these to the operations group. 


Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

  • Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, Disability, Healthcare and Wellness Spending Accounts, Virtual Care and Employee and Family Assistance Program;
  • Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
  • Annual total compensation of CAD$102,946 to CAD$127,169 (including annual bonus eligibility).
  • Compensation based on candidates having their PEng designation
