Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Mineral Resources, the Database Geologist plays a critical role in supporting the Exploration and Geology teams by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and usability of geological data. This position is responsible for managing data workflows, validating and importing incoming assay certificates, and maintaining QAQC standards across all geology and exploration activities for Discovery Silver’s geological database
Responsibilities
- Support the Exploration, Geology, and Mineral Resources teams with data validation and database management.
- Import assay certificates and ensure proper QAQC validation for Exploration and Geology groups.
- Collaborate with Geologists and Technicians to ensure timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
- Perform regular QAQC checks on exploration and production diamond drill hole data. Provide QAQC support for other geological and geochemical datasets as required.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly QAQC reports, including documentation of procedures and results.
- Ensure geological data is collected to company standards, with strict adherence to QAQC protocols and validated drill logs.
- Provide clean, validated datasets to support geological modeling and resource estimation.
- Train and support the Exploration and Geology teams in data collection tools and QAQC procedures.
Training and Education
- Honours Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree or a related field
- Must hold a Ontario Professional Geologist designation.
- 3+ years of experience in geological data management
- Experience with geological software (LeapFrog, Datamine Studio, Fusion, ArcGIS, etc.)
- Strong skills in Excel, SQL and GIS applications
- Demonstrated experience with QAQC protocols and drillhole data validation
- Ability to communicate clearly & confidently, on a timely basis.
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
