Purpose
The Exploration Core Technician role will be a support to our geological team through diamond drill core handling, detailed data collection, and core sampling. With a strong commitment to safety and maintaining an organized work environment, this role plays a key part in ensuring high‑quality sampling, core management, and QA/QC practices across our exploration programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure daily and timely delivery of drill core to the core shed from drilling operations.
- Verify accuracy of hole IDs, core-tray labels, and core depths as indicated by drillers.
- Prepare drill core for logging by marking meter intervals and indicating core loss zones.
- Prepare oriented core – docking oriented core, marking orientation lines and cut lines record core orientation data.
- Prepare sample tags post-geologist logging and mark sample breaks.
- Conduct core sampling based on geologist-generated cut sheets, properly labeling and bagging samples, and inserting recommended Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) materials for assaying.
- Capture, correctly name, and securely archive core photographs following established naming conventions.
- Maintain inventory levels of drilling and sampling consumables (e.g., core trays, core blocks, sample bags, marker pens, Certified Reference Materials).
- Coordinate with the assay lab to ensure periodic transportation and storage of pulp samples.
- Enter daily drill data into spreadsheets and perform other relevant duties as assigned by geologists.
Training and Education
- Minimum high school diploma
- Valid "G" driver's license
- Experience in the mining or exploration area is considered a strong asset.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:
- Annual total compensation of CAD$77,597 to CAD$95,855
