Purpose
Our Porcupine operations Projects Department is now recruiting for the position of Tailings Construction Lead. Reporting directly to the Tailings Construction Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the safe execution to plan of all tailings and seepage construction related work.
Responsibilities
- Review designs and execution plans.
- Prepare/update site level construction prints.
- Prepare/update short-term schedules, track progress and mitigate delays.
- Complete field verifications to ensure construction is completed according to plans, drawings, and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Direct supervision of the work to meet quality standards and comply with the outlined scope.
- Liaise with stakeholders such as the client, engineers and site representatives, and contractors/sub-contractors.
- Identify areas to increase project value and optimize resources.
- Directly engage the primary contractors that carry out the construction.
- Physically monitoring progress as compared to the construction schedule and provide regular status reports detailing progress of the project.
- Implement and facilitate daily construction progress review meetings
- Support other Tailings Construction project scopes as they arise.
- Completion of monthly job task observations in all areas of construction.
- Facilitate and support daily pre-start meetings.
- Ensure compliance to Discovery Porcupine’s standards, policies and procedures.
Training and Education
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in civil construction and project execution, including.
- Team Management and Development experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Excel.
- Proficiency in scheduling software/Gantt charts.
- Proficiency in 3D design software such as CAD/Deswik.
- Effective time management and organizational skills that will enable safe oversight of multiple construction fronts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction standards and regulations.
- Strong problem solving skills are an asset.
