Purpose
Provides surveying and all required engineering control in the field to direct all facets of the surface mining operations.
Responsibilities
Promoting Safety and Sustainability
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and new designs.
Review plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standards.
Promote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policies.
Marking up hazards in the pit (ie: restricted and cautionary areas, raises, subsidences)
Surveying
- Laying out production drill patterns, cable bolting patterns, raises, restricted areas, dig to limits, ore boundaries, dump limits
- Picking up all drilled production and cable bolting holes, toe limits, wall limits, subsidence and stability failures.
- Checking pick-ups with compliance with design
- Grading floor elevations in the pit and on stockpiles and dumps,
- Guiding the building of new ramps and roads.
- Daily updating hole pickups and lay outs.
- Layout geotechnical holes, exploration drill holes, fencing limits
Assisting with wall stability
- Checking prism database for abnormalities
- Observing for any wall instabilities.
Training and Education
- Diploma in mining technology or other technical diploma with relevant experience.
- Valid "G" driver's license
- 3-5 years’ experience in an open pit environment, with previous Surveying experience.
- Strong communication and interaction skills.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Deswik and/or Vulcan.
- Ability to organize workloads and modify priorities in a loosely-structured, fast-paced continuous production environment.
- Interest in drawing together different experiences and several disciplines to produce smart solutions to unique challenges.
- Interest in ongoing personal and professional development.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

- Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
- Annual total compensation of CAD$102,946 to CAD$127,169 (including annual bonus eligibility).
