The Position:
The Vice President, Finance reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is a key member of the Company’s leadership team. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the finance function overseeing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial governance. The VP, Finance is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information while enabling informed decision‑making across the organization. This role is critical in supporting strategic planning, capital allocation, growth initiatives, and the ongoing development of robust financial and accounting systems that support the Company’s current operations and long‑term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CFO to support execution of the Company’s financial strategy, long‑term planning, and capital discipline;
- Provide executive‑level financial insight and advice to senior leadership to support operational and strategic decision‑making;
- Lead the development of budgeting, forecasting, and multi‑year strategic planning processes;
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial reporting;
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements;
- Provide executive oversight of the annual external audit and quarterly review processes;
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Company’s internal control environment, proactively identifying risks and improvements;
- Oversee the development and maintenance of corporate governance and financial compliance frameworks in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements (IFRS, SOX, and any other applicable frameworks);
- Provide executive oversight of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency, compliance, and leading practices;
- Review positions developed from guidance on complex accounting matters, mining‑specific issues, and IFRS interpretations with the Controller, applying them in a practical and pro-active way for the organization;
- Partner with the CFO and VP, Treasury on cash management and capital allocation oversight;
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of financial systems, management reporting tools, and business processes;
- Oversee the design and maintenance of corporate management reporting systems that monitor performance and decision‑making;
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship across the finance organization at all locations ;
- Provide financial support for corporate initiatives, financings, and transaction‑related activities as required; and
- Complete special projects or additional responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Canadian CPA, CA or CFA designation with expert knowledge of IFRS;
- University degree in finance-related discipline;
- Minimum of 15 years of experience working with a publicly traded mining company;
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, management reporting, IFRS, SOX / 52‑109 compliance, and internal controls;
- Subject‑matter expertise in mining‑related accounting and financial issues;
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial insight into actionable recommendations that can be implemented practically;
- Proven people leader with experience driving performance across multi‑location or complex organizations;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including preparation of executive‑level and technical materials; and
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
