Purpose

The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient execution of capital projects in underground mine workings. This role provides direct field oversight of underground construction and development activities, verifies project progress, ensures site readiness, and provides day-to-day support to contractors and internal crews. The coordinator acts as the primary field liaison between the project team, operations, maintenance, and underground contractors.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, managing interfaces, verifying installation quality, and ensuring that project work is executed safely and according to plan.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily underground field inspections to ensure all project activities – executed by company or contractor – are carried out safely and in compliance with Ontario Mining Regulations and company procedures.
  • Pre-site inspections to ensure all work sites are adequately prepped with required services to begin construction, assist in scheduling prep activities to ensure site readiness.
  • Verify and validate that all project materials, tools, and equipment are available, in good condition, and staged in appropriate locations, ready for project start.
  • Conduct daily workplace inspections to verify progress against project schedule and scope.
  • Provide daily written summaries of workplaces observed, documenting project progress, identifying deficiencies or risks to the project, and highlighting safety observations.
  • Ensure issues identified in the field are clearly communicated to the project leadership team.
  • Serve as the day-to-day underground point of contact for contractors, escalating contractor needs or delays promptly to ensure project continuity.
  • Support change management by identifying scope changes or unexpected field conditions.
  • Support QA/QC of work completed against the project drawings and designs.


Training and Education

  • Minimum secondary school diploma
  • 5–10 years of experience in underground mining operations, mine construction or capital projects is preferred.
  • Direct underground experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of underground safety regulations, mine services, and ground control is a must.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with contractors in a mining environment is an asset.
  • Must have strong communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate underground light vehicles.


Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

  • Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
  • Annual total compensation of CAD$117,554 to CAD$145,214 (including annual bonus eligibility).
