Purpose

This role oversees the financial accounting and reporting cycle for three mine sites and one processing plant, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial information that aligns with IFRS, corporate accounting policies, and external financial reporting requirements. The Financial Controller is responsible for financial close activities, internal controls, cost accounting governance, and the integrity of all site-level financial data submitted for corporate reporting. The role also supports and coordinates internal and external audit activities, ensuring the sites maintain strong documentation, audit readiness, and adherence to regulatory and corporate standards. The role also promotes Discovery Silver values and ensure compliance and enforcement of its rules and business principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for the mine sites and process plant, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with IFRS and corporate accounting policies.
  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly financial results and reporting packages for both site management and corporate consolidation, ensuring compliance with external financial reporting requirements and audit-ready documentation.
  • Oversee site-level accounting activities including general ledger management, cost allocations, revenue recognition, inventory management, project and fixed asset accounting.
  • Monitor and analyze unit costs and cost drivers
  • Ensure all site financial reporting meets site and corporate timelines, data quality standards, and disclosure requirements to support external financial statements and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across all financial processes, ensuring adherence to corporate governance frameworks, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Support variance analysis, cost reporting, and financial performance reviews for site leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Site Business Manager (finance) on budgeting and forecasting, ensuring consistency between operational plans and reported financial outcomes.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Porcupine Operations finance team members, ensuring strong performance, clear accountability, and continuous improvement in financial processes.
  • Promote and uphold company regulations and policies, particularly regarding health, safety, and ethical business practices.


Training and Education

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a mining or industrial operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards, including experience supporting external reporting or corporate consolidation processes.
  • Experience with cost accounting, financial close cycles, internal controls, and audit coordination in an operational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial reporting processes and meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening) with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with corporate finance teams.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
