Expected Start Date May 2026 for 16 months
Purpose
Provide technical support to Porcupine’s Borden mine for various aspects of mine engineering as part of the Technical Services. Provide an opportunity to learn the mining process in an operational environment. Provide Engineering group assistance with exposure to a wide range of technical roles in order to give a solid base to build their careers on within Discovery Silver Corp.
Responsibilities
Promoting Safety and Sustainability
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety by reviewing existing engineering designs and implementing new designs.
- Develop plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to Company policies, procedures and standards.
- Promote and adhere to Company safety policies.
Exposure to Operations
- Understand the operation and limitations of (and provide technical support to) through exposure to:
- Drilling operations,
- Loading operations,
- Mucking, haulage and dumping operations,
- Overall supply of materials for the operation
Technical Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the following engineering duties in varying capacities, aligning with the needs of PGM:
- Surveying
- Drill and blast design duties
- Planning duties (short-term or mid-term)
- Other engineering duties and projects as assigned
Training and Education
- Must be enrolled in a co-op program with a Canadian University pursuing a Mine Engineering degree
- Must be eligible for a 16 month co-op term (May 2026 - September 2027)
- Valid "G" driver's license
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Reliable and self-managing
- Good verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Be technically competent and have a good understanding of mining.
- Familiarity with Deswik would be considered an asset (not required)
