Responsibilities

  • Process samples for analysis following documented Standard Operating Procedures and established priorities.
  • Perform routine analysis on samples in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures for all the approved analytical test methods in use. The Assay Tech 2 will be proficient in operating the sample preparation lab equipment and some of the analytical jobs in the Mineral Science. The Assay Tech 2 is not fully trained or proficient in all jobs as compared to the Assay Tech 1 who has been trained and deemed proficient at all workstations and all jobs in the Mineral Science.
  • Maintain records of the receipt and analysis of all samples, standards, and reference materials.
  • Prepare reports of analytical results for review by the Assay Tech 1 or Assay Lead Hand prior to distribution to various departments.
  • Operate computer hardware, software and related applications in the analytical laboratory,including the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Perform routine inspections of machines and equipment to determine if any maintenance is required.
  • Inform supervision, of dangerous conditions or urgent requirements that may result in loss of equipment, unsafe working conditions or interruptions in work schedules or reporting of data.
  • Participate in the training of new employees, students, or contract technicians and instruct them in the safe operation of equipment, handling of reagents and understanding of all related Standard Operating Procedures.


Training and Education

  • Diploma in either Chemistry or Metallurgy (two year program) preferred.
  • Experience or exposure to an Analytical Setting preferred
  • One to two years of analytical or assay laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience in Fire assay and wet chemical analysis preferred


Compensation and Benefits
Competitive total compensation package including:

  • Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
  • Annual total compensation of CAD$89,624 to CAD$110,712 (including annual bonus eligibility).
